FAQs
What does it mean to “lock down” a video entry and why do I have to do it?

If you have more than 1 entry on the Site, you must choose which one you want to keep in the running for Round 2 of the competition. Only one of your video entries can be eligible for voting and you must indicate as such by no later than Saturday, March 31st at 6 PM EDT.

All you have to do is send us an email to touchbase@projectbreakout.com, telling us your username and which video you want to keep in the competition and we’ll take care of the rest. If you do not select your preferred video by that date, we will simply select your entry with the most votes and that entry will remain in the running for Round 2 and open for voting. In the case of a tie, the video entry selection will be made on a random basis. Your other entries will remain on the Site, but voting will be disabled.

Why has voting been disabled for some of my video entries?

As mentioned in Question #1, only one video entry per contestant can receive votes after the March 31st deadline. All video entries other than the one selected to remain in the competition will have voting disabled. Audience members will be able to view, share and comment on all entries.

How can I get more votes for my video entry?

We’ve found that promoting yourself through your online and offline network is the best way to “get out the vote”. For tips, please check out the promote yourself section of our website.

How will I know if my video entry has made it through to the next round?

Each contestant making it through to the next round will be notified by email and have their entry prominently displayed on the Project Breakout home page.

I’m having issues uploading my video. What’s the problem?

Your video entry must be no longer than five (5) minutes in length and must be in one of the following file formats: .mov, .wmv, .avi, .dv, .mpg, .mpg4, .3gp and .3gp2.

Please note that the VideoEgg tool used for uploading currently does not support the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. Please be sure to use a machine loaded with XP or an older operating system when uploading your video.

What if I want to delete one of my videos?

Simply send us your request by email to touchbase@projectbreakout.com. Once we validate your email address and username, we’ll be sure to delete the video on your behalf.

Somebody made a nasty comment about my video entry. Can I remove the comment?

The Project Breakout Comedy Competition is held in the public forum. As such, contestants must be able to take the good with the bad. If you feel that the comment has truly “crossed the line”, please email us at touchbase@projectbreakout.com and we will check the comment for appropriateness.

How can I add, delete or change my profile photo(s)?

In order to add, delete or change photos, please login and visit your profile. Once you are on your profile page, click on the “manage photos” link. Please note that the first picture or image uploaded serves as the default image for your profile.

I’m a bit confused about copyrighted materials. Can you give me more information?

Material in the Public Domain is material that is uncopyrighted, whose copyright has expired, or is uncopyrightable. We cannot advise you if use of particular music or other such materials in your video will violate any copyright that may exist. It is, of course, best to obtain the permission of the copyright holder (i.e. owner) to use their music.

We will not prevent you from uploading a video with another artist's music in it, but you should be aware that the copyright holder might object to your use of that music should it violate their rights. In addition, the copyright holder may require us to remove your Video from the Site and we may even be forced to disqualify your entry from the competition.

For more information, please review the Contest Rules and Terms of Use.

If I make it to Round 3, how and when will I be traveling to Florida for the finale?

For those who make it to Round 3, a complete itinerary along with e-tickets will be sent at the end of the Round 3 upload period (late April 2007). The trip to South Florida is tentatively scheduled for May 3 – 5, 2007.
