Wow! Great job guys. When all the elements of good sketch writing, acting and producing come together its like a unicorn…magic. The editing was great. Nothing I would cut. The idea is clear; the social commentary is obvious but not thrown at the audience. I am laughing and thinking! All the characters were well done. It felt like you were all working as an ensemble rather than all fighting for the spotlight, which I think is great. The concept of celebrities as monsters has been done, but you guys prove that you can do it better. I really liked this a lot.
THE GOOD The production values are excellent – it works very well as a genre parody. I loved the line “Look at him – look at him knowing we’re watching them.” The performances carried the parody well, too. THE BAD Frankly, it needed more laughs. There are a variety of ways of doing this – you can escalate over the course of the scene, have something important change, have particularly telling details. Ultimately, though, it was just the main joke for far too long.
THE GOOD Two shorts for the price of one, making each one shorter, which – did I say this before? -- is always better, if you’re not in bed. And sometimes even then. The use of black-and-white makes it fresh, the choice of graphics suits the material, and the soundtrack works. But what makes me rank it first is that it has something to say about pop culture. Could it be that the people who created this spot think actual thoughts with their, how you say, brains? Color me amazed. If anyone doesn’t like this spot, just don’t pay attention to them. THE BAD Tech values, as they say in Variety, could be better. And I felt the lack of actual Tom Cruise footage. That Oprah thing was all over the web, couldn’t they have put some of it to good use? THE UGLY Tell me that’s not the little scientist guy’s real hair.

I'm sorry, but who the hell is daveandtom? How dare you guys hand out such harsh critiques, when your own material leaves so much to be desired. Although your production values and editing seems to be good, your material is not funny....and it certainly is in no way comparable to monty python.....I mean a blowjob from a genie and a guy farting, wow, you guys are really comedic geniuses....I am tired of groups comparing themselves to Monty Python: NONE OF YOU are like monty python! Be influenced, sure, but don't make that the basis of your comparison. You are not like them at all. If you were, John Clesse and Micheal Palin would be living in a crappy apartment off the 101 like I'm sure you guys do.
Oh well....hopefully you will do better on your next video...please try to make it funny, it is supposed to make us laugh! :)
And don't listen to "dave & tom" their sketches certaintly do not "bring a heady mix of the silly, surreal and slap-stick of which Monty Python would be proud." Monty Python would be sickened if they ever saw your shit and would certaintly not be proud.

The voice over recording and performance sounds not in the spirit of the parody it sounds like a kid attempting to sound like an adult. The effects are appropriately cheezy as is the acting.
I see people have been saying this a lot, but your first one was short and sweet, this one kinda dragged. I did like the look to it and as a connoisseur of old, bad sci fi flicks, it was a pretty good parody, but it just seemed to lull. I would have also liked to see more bashing of tom, and not just the allusion to.

cingular sketch was alot better but this is still one of the best videos up on this site. you guys have real talent. and i hope you make it to round three and win this thing cause you certaintly deserve it. best of luck...even though you don't really need any. p.s.- i've looked you guys up and watched your other stuff...it was bloody amazing. especially the erasing racism and the gay propoganda film sketches. and if i'm ever around for one i'll definitly come see you guys perform live in the city sometime. i'm sure it'd be a riot with laughter. cheers to you guys.

I'm impressed with your production, and it's truly a step up into stuff we've already seen from you guys. I thought your other one was better though. Good Job, and I hope you go to round three.
