The Acropolis presents: A Typical Friday Night

What a weird party. HA HA HA. There are like 3 people there and it looks like it’s in an apartment, then you go to the bathroom and it’s in a different building all together. This didn’t ruin the sketch for me or anything. On the whole for all comedy creators, if you are doing a party scene, try to make it look like a real party. This wasn’t bad. I like that at the end, the characters are portrayed positively…like “who cares if she was actually a guy, lets do it again.” It could have easily gone the other way with easy jokes about sex and gender bashing. Bravo for making that choice. It was a stronger one. It is really nicely edited and the concept was super clear. It was a good sketch; I just wasn’t wowed by it. I’d like to see your group challenge yourselves as writers now that you have the basics down.

THE GOOD You did a great job turning a limited production into an asset with the silent movie setup. It’s interesting, and I think it’ll catch people’s attention. It also frees you from having to sync sound. The piece is also well structured, and an appropriate length. You’ve got a punchline and a capper, which shows me that you understand the way a comedy video like this works. THE BAD The joke only got a little smile out of me. Of course, that’s entirely subjective, but I am one of the judges . Solid work nonetheless.

THE BAD This is the kind of thing you can imagine one stoner dude telling another, “And then the chick comes out and stands next to him, and it’s actually a guy!” And then they piss themselves laughing, perhaps literally. “Hey, dude looks like a lady!” THE UGLY The girl wiping her mouth on the way out of the stall made me want to rush out and buy mouthwash. And then pour it on my laptop.
