Fact Sheet
Project Breakout is considered the premier network for online video competitions, featuring channels in comedy, music, short film, screenwriting, dance, animation and more. Representing the convergence of online video sharing (e.g. YouTubeTM) and top television talent contests (e.g. American Idol™), Project Breakout is the preferred destination for online video competitions. Project Breakout's mission consists of creating breakout career opportunities for undiscovered talent who are ready to "explode onto the scene", while providing high quality entertainment to its extensive online audience.
After successfully launching two competitions in the Comedy channel, Viral Video Star (February 2007) and Breakout Comedy Star (March 2007), Project Breakout has expanded its network to include a Breakout Band in Rock Contest (May 2007) and Breakout Filmmaker Competition (June 2007); both firsts in their respective channels of Music and Short Film.
Prior to founding Project Breakout in 2006, Gregory Sukornyk was a founder, Chairman & CEO of London-based The X-Stream Network, the UK's first free Internet Service Provider that launched in March 1998 and became the UK's fastest growing ISP and its 3rd largest within 12 months. As a small, independent company, X-Stream competed head on with such well-backed ISPs as AOL and Freeserve. Mr. Sukornyk led X-Stream's expansion into Sweden, Norway, Denmark and The Netherlands, and helped to launch livedoor, Japan's first and largest free ISP. Mr. Sukornyk successfully negotiated the sale of X-Stream for US $75 Million to LibertySurf, France's largest ISP at the time backed by Bernard Arnault (LVMH) and the UK's Kingfisher.
