Project Breakout Explodes onto the Scene with Online Comedy Competition
Ft. Lauderdale, FL (March 12, 2007) – Hot on the heels of its successful Viral Video Star contest, the Project Breakout Network (www.projectbreakout.com) has formally launched its Comedy Channel with the first of many online video comedy competitions.
The inaugural comedy competition is open to anyone who “thinks they are funny and can prove it”. The comedy competition itself consists of three rounds over a period of two months and will include voting by the online audience and an expert panel of judges.
“We’re thrilled to launch our first comedy competition and excited to have such an outstanding panel of judges on board,” said Gregory Sukornyk, Founder and CEO of Project Breakout. “We wanted to involve a powerful cross-section of comedy industry insiders and that’s exactly what we’ve accomplished.”
Included among the panel of judges is Elizabeth Ellis, a writer and performer who has been featured on the National Lampoon Radio Show, Good Morning America and as the voice of “Dixie” in the children’s favorite Hampton and the Hamsters. Joining Ms. Ellis is Jesse Thorn, a comedy industry insider and well-respected host of The Sound of Young America radio show that airs on public radio and also via podcast.
Any US resident over the age of 12 can participate. The winner of this launch Project Breakout Comedy Competition will earn a featured role in the upcoming SketchFest NYC 2007 comedy festival, an all-expenses paid three-day internship with some of the best and brightest from the New York City comedy scene and a trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to work with the judges on a webisode.
