Success Story - Music

You don't always have to be the grand prize winner to enjoy a breakout experience (just ask Academy Award® winner Jennifer Hudson). Breakout Band in Rock finalists, Credible Witness, found themselves the subject of a featured story on Global TV, Canada's largest network.

The combination of talent and exposure to the public usually means big success. Credible Witness may not have won the competition, but they're definitely winners!

Success Story - Comedy

Talk about coming out of the gate strong! Project Breakout’s very first grand prize winners in the Comedy Channel (Comedy Star 2007) found themselves in a featured role at SketchFest NYC 2007.

If that weren’t enough, the sketch group Better than the Machine was able to quickly convert their Project Breakout Comedy Star victory and featured role at SketchFest NYC into airtime on MTV’s Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz.

Having just wrapped their songwriting and recording session with producer Greig Nori in Toronto’s Pocket Studios, the boys from Junket (2007 Breakout Band in Rock grand prize winner) shared some of their thoughts on the experience.

This week has been one of the best weeks of my life.  I really felt like a rock star.  In my past, I was used to banging out the drums as fast as possible because we were paying by the day.  It was really nice to take my time and make sure I loved every part I put into it, and it was even better that Greig brought in extra cymbals and drums to mess with.  I really feel that we got just about the best sounds that my drums are capable of producing.  I love how professional and perfectionistic Greig and Ryan were.  If they said okay we're going to spend two more months here and finish this up, i would have quit my job and lived in Toronto... no questions asked.   So overall, I have nothing but positive responses towards this trip.  Even the hotel was beautiful.  Thanks Project Breakout!  This was an incredible experience.
-Chad Babcock, drums

I had an awesome time.  It was the happiest Ive been in a long time cuz I was doing what I want to do.  It was more than I expected.  I was surprised that Greg from Project Breakout flew to see us.  Greig and Ryan knew all the little tricks to make the recording sound insane.  Would love to work with everyone again for future projects
-Evan Santoro, bass

Every thing about this trip was amazing.  Greig Nori and Ryan were great to work with.  The way that they treated us made it seem like they actually cared.  We spent at least 1-2 hours just getting the most optimum sound from our instruments.  We have many options to choose from when it came to cymbals, snares, mics, guitars, amps, and cabinets.  The studio was very comfortable as well.  They had this lounge area where we would hang out while we were not recording.  We would watch DVD's, go on the computer, do whatever we wanted.  Every person in the studio was easy to get along with.  The hotel that we stayed at was probably the most prestigious hotel I've ever stayed at.  I would just like to thank Project Breakout for this amazing opportunity, and I hope to work with Greig Nori again sometime in the near future.
-Mike Miller, guitar

I loved every minute of this trip. Everyone was very professional and the studio felt like our second home. I loved Grieg and Ryan's attention to detail and work ethic. I really felt we had a great chemistry working with each other and would thoroughly enjoy working on an entire album with them. Just like us, these guys are perfectionists and it was a first for us to work with a studio team like that. The hotel was beautiful and the overall atmosphere of the trip, from arranging and practicing at Grieg's house to recording until 8am in the studio, was ridiculously fun and efficient. Like Chad, I would have stayed there an extra few days, weeks, or even months to do more.
