About Bizellis
Bizellis (Web) Elizabeth “Biz” Ellis Elizabeth Ellis hails from Birmingham, AL. Since moving to NYC 7 years ago as a stand up, she has been seen in a myriad of comedy clubs, from Gotham to Caroline’s, and she was a featured comic on Good Morning America. She has worked as a freelance writer and performer for the National Lampoon Radio Show and the Daria & Mitch Morning show on Portland, Oregon radio station105.1 The Buzz. She has proudly been a performer and writer for MEAT, the most critically acclaimed all-female sketch comedy group in the country. She provides the voice of DIXIE the hamster in the upcoming children’s DVD and CD, Hampton and the Hampsters, and the voice of Barren from the soon to be released Xbox 360 Live Arcade game “Street Trace: NYC.” MEAT Known for smart, dangerous writing and fearlessly committed performances, MEAT is the most critically acclaimed all-female sketch comedy group in the United States. With a repertoire of over 400 sketches, the impressive range of MEAT includes material that is current, sharp and original (women in a sauna slowly turn into lobsters in a sketch about global warming) and deliriously ridiculous and hysterical (the raucous crowd favorite, “Shelac,” is a post-apocolyptic cartoon, based on Thundar the Barbarian and He-Man, has characters attacking each other in cardboard boxes while shouting lines like “thank you for killing me and teaching me how to love.”) All seriously trained actors as well, MEAT stands out for unforgettable characterizations delivered with spot on timing and relentless precision, as with their wildly acclaimed series called “Evil British Children.” MEAT’s long list of achievements and distinctions includes critic’s picks from The Village Voice, Time Out Chicago, The Onion, and award nominations by the Emerging Comics of NY for Best Sketch Group and "Most Fucked Up Thing I Saw All Year." MEAT has been an official selection of The Best of the Best Sketch Festival, Seattle Sketch Festival, Vancouver Sketch Festival, San Francisco Sketch Festival, DC Comedy Festival and The New York Sketch Festival. At the 2006 DC Comedy Festival, MEAT opened for Demitri Martin, and they are also honored to have shared billing with Lewis Black and Gloria Steinam.
