The post-modern era was long overdue. Anodize is the new now...the fusion of the primitive, liquid guts of rock; with the mechanical elements of ambient trance, drum & bass, and breakbeat. When considering the current state of the music industry, Anodize is, as one fan puts it, "...a breath of fresh air." Driven by the enthralling and commanding voice of Mark Almeida, the unforgettable, melodic touch of keyboardist Michel Arellini, the indispensable, stable footing provided by guitarist P.J., and the picturesque rhythms designed by drummer Deryl Leon, Anodize shapes the synthesis of several genres. The sleeping giant was first envisioned by Michel and Deryl; one being a learned master of piano, now exposed to the world of electronica; the other a limitless percussionist with the desire to push his craft in a less-traveled direction. However, the concept would not come to fruition without years of hard work, and an exhaustive search for like-minded and exceptionally talented individuals. Enter Mark, a humble, yet intriguing, diamond in the rough; and P.J., bringer of balance and patience; both now firmly rooted alongside the cornerstones of this genre-defying band. In November of 2006, the release of Anodize's first EP was received to unprecedented acclaim, instantly earning them recognition within the Miami music scene. Through the power of the internet, that very same buzz steadily made it's way across the globe. As their fan base grew larger, the band began headlining major South Florida venues, including Churchill's, The Factory, and Culture Room. Taking advantage of the rumble they created, Anodize went on location to film a music video for the song "Chase Your Traces." The imaginative presentation starred lead singer Mark as a distraught soul seeking the answers behind a stranger only he can see. Furthering their ability to reach fans on an international level, Anodize made their radio debut in February of 2007 with the song "Weapon Leads." The success of the singe led to abundant radio airplay of their entire library of recorded material. In the band's short history, Anodize has proven they are ready to blur the lines that divide music. But then, it's not about where you've been, it's about where you're going... |
